Medical Tubing

Through our partnership with HTP-Meds, Biomerics specializes in the rapid development of high performance medical tubing.  With our wide range of extrusion and material capabilities, we can turn a concept into a finished tube in days.  We have the ability to design, model, tool, compound, and extrude a wide range of tubes.  This unique set of capabilities enables flexibility, rapid turn around, and cost-effective solutions.  We are known for our unique ability to extrude complex tubing for use in critical, tight tolerance applications.  We specialize in the following medical extrusions:

Co-extrusion and Multi-layer Tubing

Co-extrusion or multi-layer extrusion involves the process of layering or embedding multiple materials in a single tube.  This includes striping, encapsulation, tie layers, over-extrusion, and transition extrusion (transition from one material to another over the length of the tube).  Co-extrusions are used when the properties of multiple materials such as durometer, radiopacity, lubricity, stiffness, body softening, and chemical resistance are desired in single tube.

Multi-lumen Tubing

Multi-lumen tubes vary in the size, number, and position of lumens or holes in a tube.  The lumens provide working channels to perform a wide range of functions including: drug delivery, insertion, guidance, monitoring, and biopsies.  Biomerics provides single to 12 lumen tube configurations.

Bump Tubes

Bump, taper, or draw down tubes vary in diameter over the length of the extrusion.  These extrusion are commonly used when different functionality is required at the proximal and distal ends of a catheter or device.  Our proprietary backend manufacturing systems allow for tight control of multiple bump configurations.

Polyimide Tubing

Thermoset polyimide tubing and coated wire is a highly versatile product, with  a wide range of uses in high performance medical devices.  Typical medical applications include cardiovascular catheters, retrieval devices, push rings, marker bands, angioplasty & stent delivery devices, neurological devices, electrical insulator applications, and drug delivery systems.  Polyimide thermoset plastic provides excellent mechanical, thermal, electrical, and chemical resistant properties.

Profile

Profile extrusions have non-circular cross sections that are specifically designed for a given medical application.  The profile maybe engineered for insertion, guidance, sampling, energy delivery, monitoring, and biopsies.

Jacketing

Biomerics coats or jackets wire, fiber optics, mandrels, polyimide, or other materials in both continuous and cut-to-length sizes. Common applications include data transmission, guide wires, steerable catheters, and coated tubes.

All Biomerics' tubes are manufactured to the highest quality standards in our ISO 13485:2003 registered white room.  Tubes may be purchased cut-to-length, coiled, and in protective packaging.  We utilize the latest technologies in the areas of continuous in-line monitoring, optical measurement, water treatment, head design, screw design, and pull systems.
