Dave Hornak – Vice President of Operations – Machining & Welding, Biomerics NLE
Dave earned his B.S. in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from the University of Connecticut and later completed his M.S. in Management Engineering from the University of Bridgeport. Dave started his engineering career in the defense industry at Textron Lycoming in their engineering rotational program where he designed gas turbine engine components then later rotated to manufacturing for training in Design for Manufacturing (DFM). Dave then moved to a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer position at a leading industrial pressure and temperature sensor manufacturer where he applied Lean Manufacturing techniques to incorporate single piece flow to many of their manufacturing lines. This eventually led to an Engineering/Operations Manager role directing both design and manufacturing engineering initiatives. Dave later gained additional managerial experience back in the defense industry for a leading motor and controller manufacturer for the Navy before coming to Northeast Laser. At Northeast Laser, Dave helps direct the engineering activities including the utilization of the latest motion controls and vision systems to automate laser processes, design and implementation of new laser welding applications, machining initiatives and validation efforts. Dave has been with Northeast Laser for 10 years.
