Micro-Overmolding Center of Excellence: Fast facts
Explore our Winston-Salem, North Carolina, facility
At this world-class facility, we have all the capabilities to design and construct tooling, manufacture micro stamped metal parts, and overmold in a variety of materials for your medical device.
High-quality insert manufacturing

Consistent, precise insert geometry is critical for successful, high-quality overmolding operations. That’s why all of our dedicated component Centers of Excellence (COEs) work in tandem with our Micro-Overmolding COE to manufacture precise metal and plastic inserts for overmolding. This allows us to seamlessly manufacture and integrate virtually any of our customers’ inserts or components into our overmolding capabilities — delivering exceptional speed, quality, consistency, performance and value. By controlling the entire manufacturing process, from the insert itself to the final overmolded part, we offer cost and lead time savings for our customers by eliminating the hassle of multiple suppliers and reducing delays and quality issues.

Our COEs work together to streamline both design and manufacturing for inserts and overmolded components. Our manufacturing engineers can collaborate with you to design optimized overmolding tooling for a wide range of components and materials. Contact an expert today to start your insert overmolding project!

Extensive vertical & rotary overmolding capabilities
We use vertical and rotary insert molding presses to overmold loose-piece metal, plastic and other materials. Our robotically loaded Arburg and Nissei machines accommodate a wide range of part sizes, with shot sizes from 1 to 200 grams across both engineering and commodity resins. Rotary insert molding is ideal for mid- to high-volume production, delivering quality and value at competitive pricing.
Advanced reel-to-reel overmolding technology
Our reel-to-reel overmolding process feeds a continuous line of inserts through fully automated, high-efficiency molding cells — eliminating the need for manual operators and significantly reducing production costs. This method offers a turnkey solution that not only accelerates production timelines but also increases the reliability of secondary processes. We provide custom reel-to-reel solutions tailored to your product and performance needs, using virtually any thermoplastic resin. For parts with tight tolerances, in-line vision systems enable 100% inspection of critical features, ensuring consistent, high-quality output.
Deep plastics knowledge
Our company has its roots in plastics molding, and it remains one of our core competencies. Beyond insert overmolding, we offer several other plastic molding services to complete your component or finished device. Our capabilities include additive manufacturing (3D printing), advanced thermoforming, injection molding and liquid resin casting. Explore our Interventional Medical Plastics Center of Excellence.
Precision metal stamping experts
Overmolded components often start out with a small metal insert, many of which are manufactured by stamping. We have decades of experience in achieving our customers’ exacting standards for high-volume precision-stamped components. We do this by leveraging our team of stamping experts, a world-class fleet of precision stamping presses, and our in-house tool design and maintenance services. If your product has intricate features and tight tolerances, our metal stamping specialists can deliver the results you need. Learn more about our Micro Precision Stamping Center of Excellence.

Functional prototype development
To support the critical prototyping stage of product development, we have a dedicated team of engineers, designers and tooling experts who collaborate with our customers to design a manufacturable product. We focus on design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) from the beginning of the product lifecycle, helping reduce iterations, streamline production, and minimize time and cost. Our approach ensures that components are optimized not only for fabrication but also for efficient and error-free assembly. We offer prototyping for metal and plastic components, as well as for full and subcomponent assemblies. Contact us today to learn more about our functional prototype development capabilities and how we can incorporate them into your next project.
